House plants create an inviting atmosphere within the home and are one of the greatest assets for the lover of aesthetic beauty. However, when you are moving home, taking the plants with you becomes a big challenge, and many do not like to hand over plants even to the most experienced Los Angeles movers. Find more about la movers. Compared to pets, plants are more delicate, and special care should be taken so that they survive the moving trip.

Preparing your plants for the move

Whether you are transporting the plants on your own or handing them over to expert LA movers (which is usually not done), proper arrangements need to be made to maximize the survival chances of the plants. They also undergo a kind of stress during the move and your job is to reduce that stress.

  • If the move brings in abrupt temperature changes, you need to insulate the plant accordingly. Remember that the health of the plant may deteriorate and the plant may even die if the temperature is extremely low or high, so make proper arrangements to safeguard them against possible harsh conditions.

  • Are you moving with your potted plants when it is the cold and wet winter or the hot and dry summer season? Then the trip will be quite challenging for your plants. If the move is scheduled in the summer season, make sure that the plant is watered on the moving day morning and the water is allowed to drain away before you or the LA movers load it. Water a couple of days before the D-Day in case you are moving in the winter season.

  • Certain indoor plants do not respond well when you take them away from natural sunlight and expose them to artificial darkness. So, to make such plants get adjusted to the trip, reduce their sunlight intake some weeks before the actual move.

  • Get your plants treated properly prior to the move, if you find any kind of infestation on them. In case the problem is extremely serious, it is better to leave the plant behind.

Packing plants for the shift

Usually Los Angeles movers do not move plants owing to safety reasons. So, if you are carrying them in your own car, proper packing must be done.

Clay pots are best transported by wrapping them with thick damp packing material, roping in extra layers of dry paper for additional protection. Plants with larger flowers should be protected by tying up with an extra piece of wood. Once the plants are wrapped, you can put them in cardboard boxes. Use adequate padding, so that the pots do not come in direct contact with each other.

It would be great if you can close the box lids but remember to poke holes near the sides so that the flowers receive adequate amount of fresh air. The plants should be the last things to be loaded in your vehicle, just prior to starting the trip. In case you want to use the trunk of your vehicle for transporting plants, get your leafy friends covered with some blankets.
